The World Organization of States – International Parliament for Safety and Peace (WOS-IPSP) expresses its profound gratitude for the words of Pope Leo XIV, the first North American pontiff, who has recently urged the international community to assume responsibility and show the courage of peace in the conflicts of Gaza and Ukraine.
The Holy Father firmly condemned the violence against civilians, describing it as “barbaric and unacceptable,” and called urgently for an immediate ceasefire, the release of hostages, and the opening of dialogue channels for a just and lasting peace.
The WOS-IPSP, which for fifty years has promoted interreligious dialogue, the security of peoples, and the diplomacy of peace, embraces these words and considers them a universal call to the conscience of governments and international institutions.
As Pope Leo XIV reminded us, “war is always a defeat for humanity.” In this spirit, the WOS-IPSP renews its commitment to cooperate with States, multilateral bodies, religious authorities, and civil society in order to build bridges of reconciliation and strengthen international cooperation.
Only through diplomacy, solidarity, and justice will it be possible to extinguish the fire of conflicts and restore hope to the peoples of Gaza, Ukraine, and all nations afflicted by violence.
