Anchorage, Alaska – August 15, 2025
The World Organization of States – International Parliament for Safety and Peace (WOS-IPSP) is closely following the developments of the recent summit held in Anchorage, Alaska, between the President of the United States, Donald Trump, and the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin.
The meeting, which drew significant international attention, was mainly devoted to exploring possible avenues toward peace in Ukraine. Although no formal agreement or immediate ceasefire was announced, both leaders reaffirmed their intention to keep the channel of dialogue open, which remains an indispensable condition for any future peace process.
The WOS-IPSP acknowledges the importance of this summit, marking the first official visit of President Putin to a Western country since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine in 2022. While no concrete results emerged, the encounter represents a meaningful step in efforts to overcome the current diplomatic stalemate.
Our Organization emphasizes that peace must be achieved with the participation of the Ukrainian people and their institutions, who must remain central to any negotiation. Inclusive dialogue is essential to ensure stability, security, and respect for international law.
The WOS-IPSP reaffirms its readiness to support multilateral initiatives aimed at achieving an immediate cessation of hostilities, ensuring the protection of civilians and vital infrastructure, and fostering an inclusive negotiation process under the guidance of international institutions.
As an Organization committed to parliamentary diplomacy and the promotion of international security, the WOS-IPSP encourages all parties to transform symbolic gestures into tangible progress toward a just, lasting, and shared peace.
