The General Secretariat of the WOS-IPSP expresses its deep concern over the humanitarian and legal situation in Gaza.

According to international sources, more than 60,000 people have been killed and over 145,000 injured, while the destruction of civilian housing has reached unprecedented levels, rendering the territory nearly uninhabitable.

International law is unambiguous:

The United Nations Charter prohibits the acquisition of territory by force.

The Fourth Geneva Convention prohibits the forcible transfer of populations and the destruction of civilian housing, even when justified under the pretext of counter-terrorism.

The Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court qualifies such practices as war crimes and crimes against humanity.

The systematic destruction of civilian homes cannot be justified by the fight against terrorism. It constitutes a grave violation of humanitarian law and undermines the foundations of the international order.

The WOS-IPSP calls upon the international community to uphold the peremptory norms of international law and recalls that the deportation of populations and the appropriation of foreign lands are international crimes.
